1970s Era

The story began with a simple passion for horses—riding, caring, and learning. What started in Bahrain during the 1970s would later grow into a lifelong legacy in horsemanship and endurance.

1980s Era

The early 1980s marked the transition from passion to commitment, as the Apprentice Jockey license represented the first official step in a journey that would span decades of learning, experience, and achievement.

In 1984, he was among the first to introduce Western horsemanship and cowboy culture to Bahrain, owning a complete set of authentic cowboy equipment at a time when it was rarely seen in the region.

1990s Era

The 1990s marked the beginning of a new chapter of growth and learning through international training camps, starting in Switzerland and expanding across Europe. These experiences provided valuable exposure to advanced horsemanship practices and international expertise.

Building on years of international experience, the next milestone was introducing global equestrian standards to Bahrain through the establishment of one of the country's earliest specialized riding and show-jumping centers. Al Zubara became the starting point of this vision, with the center playing a pioneering role in organizing competitions and developing future generations of riders according to international standards.

The Saar Riding School marked a significant milestone in the development of equestrian sports in Bahrain. Established according to international standards, it featured dedicated facilities for riding instruction, show jumping, and endurance training. The school also attracted renowned international experts and trainers, including leading figures in show-jumping education. Over the years, it helped develop many riders who have become recognized names in Bahrain’s equestrian community.

2000s Era

This decade marked the beginning of a new chapter with the appointment as a trainer for the Bahrain Royal Team. Abdulrahman Al Bastaki's role extended far beyond training and international participation. He earned the trust of the Royal Court to prepare and train horses ridden by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Through his extensive experience and exceptional capabilities, he supervised the training of several royal horses, including “Haji Baik,” which was gifted by President Vladimir Putin to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 2016.

The sport has continued to flourish under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Her Highness Shaikha Noora bint Hamad Al Khalifa, whose efforts have strengthened Bahrain’s position on the international stage. The continued support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for horse racing and equestrian sports further reflects the deep-rooted connection between Bahrain’s people and their equestrian heritage.
